Position: HOME Alliance Narrative Working Group Coordinator

Location: Remote

Organization: Hands Off Mother Earth! (HOME) Alliance

Type: Part-time

1. About HOME Alliance: 

Hands Off Mother Earth! (HOME) Alliance is a diverse and inclusive coalition of civil society, Indigenous Peoples’, human rights, grassroots, climate justice and feminists groups that are working to reject all forms of geoengineering as false solutions to the climate crisis, while fighting for real solutions.

Over 200 organisations support the HOME Alliance manifesto, opposing geoengineering as a false “solution”. 50+ organisations actively contribute to HOME’s numerous thematic and regional working groups. HOME engages and participates in international policy discussions and works closely with other networks advocating for climate justice.

 

2. Role Overview:

HOME Alliance is seeking a passionate and dynamic Narrative Working Group Coordinator to lead our narrative work. The ideal candidate will coordinate and facilitate collaboration among diverse groups, cultivate compelling narratives to support the advocacy against geoengineering, and ensure that our messaging aligns with HOME and its members’ goals regarding geoengineering. 

 

3. The successful candidate shall :

  • Have proven experience in developing and implementing narrative strategies in a climate justice policy and advocacy context
  • Have experience in connecting long-term goals with narrative strategies to achieve systemic impact
  • Have a history of advocating for climate justice and experience working with civil society networks, alliances, and movements
  • Have an understanding and experience of network coordination
  • Have an understanding (if possible, experience) of strategic and organisational development for civil society alliances
  • Have an ability to multitask, be proactive, be organised, be collaborative and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Be comfortable working online with international colleagues, in different time zones
  • Be able to travel internationally (approx. 1-2 times a year), for regional or international events
  • Have a general understanding of international fora and climate talks is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of geoengineering-related issues is an advantage

 

4. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the Narrative Working Group, including regular meetings and discussions
  • Develop and implement narratives and strategies that effectively communicate HOME Alliance’s messages and headline narrative
  • Collaborate with various HOME Committees and HOME Communications Coordinator, to co-develop a comprehensive narrative framework that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of narrative initiatives

 

5. General Information: 

  • The post is remote, and the candidate can be based anywhere in the world. Good internet connection is required
  • The role is a part-time freelance contract, working on average 1,5 days per week
  • The initial contract will cover a 8-months period, starting preferably in May. The collaboration will be reviewed at the end of the contract. We aim for a multi-year collaboration
  • Working language: English. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish are an advantage
  • Working hours are flexible but should be compatible for international collaboration
